non-PAP-related clicking disturbing my sleep
Posting this here is a long shot, but maybe someone will come up with an idea...
For a couple of months, I've been hearing a clicking sound in the vicinity of my nightstand. I can be about to doze off, and "click", and the whole process starts over. At first I thought it was my PAP, or the humidifier, or the cord, or the hose, or the hozer, etc. I thought it might be the UPS, the power strip, the light, the clock, etc. I've basically changed out everything that is changeable (power cords, got rid of UPS, switched humidifiers, switched machines, noise machines, etc.). I've even switched sides of the bed, but I can still hear it on the original side of the bed. I've tried powering down all the computers and UPSs in the study below the bedroom. I've unplugged things. I've moved furniture. And the clicking continues. (I think there's an Edgar Allan Poe story about this...). Anyone that knows me well knows that I can't really afford to butcher my sleep any more than it already is. I need to find this clicking and make it stop. It's pretty uniform in sound, sounding like a click or pop, and not like a scrape of a tree branch or a scurry of feet or something. It sounds electronic or electric, or maybe like a brief splintering of wood. I don't spend much time in the bedroom during the day, so my impression that it occurs at night and in the early morning may be wrong.
Any ideas?

Sounds like an S9 VPAP™ Auto BiLevel Machine to me.
If you really have changed out everything electrical ... process of elimination concludes the only electronic thing you likely did not change out.

I changed the bilevel out. It happens whether I use ASV or the bilevel. I even swapped humdifiers AND power cords. Also, even though I've moved my equipment to the other side of the bed, I still hear the clicking on the original side (which doesn't have anything plugged in right now).

Do you hear it without the machine being even on? Even totally unplugged from power source so not even in ready state?
Even if there is no S9 in the bedroom?
There have been reports of the S9 humidifier clicking but it shouldn't be able to throw its voice to the other side of the bed.

Well, I haven't removed it from the bedroom, but I've completely unplugged it.Even if there is no S9 in the bedroom?
You know, I think there is that going on with one of the humidifiers. I put my ear to it and could hear a slight clicking/ticking sound. What the heck is that? Is there a way to fix it? It doesn't happen with my other humidifier. Anyway, that is not the source of the sound. There have been reports of the S9 humidifier clicking but it shouldn't be able to throw its voice to the other side of the bed.

Re: non-PAP-related clicking disturbing my sleep
I never read about any solution for the documented S9 humidifier clicking...I don't think. At least I don't remember if I did.
It wasn't hugely common like the bird call thing is.
If your machine is totally unplugged then there's obviously no way it can be creating this clicking that I can think of...and especially throw the sound to the other side of the bed.
Remove anything and everything possible from that side of the bed out of the room??? Does the night stand have drawers in it that might be hiding something?
Check mattress and maybe where mattress might be hitting the bed?
I told my alien buddies not to mess with you...they told me they would leave you alone but the gremlins...they don't listen very well to me.

I moved the nightstand, a chair, even dismantled a light attached to the wall and removed it! And unplugged everything on that side. I can't do much about the bed, but it's a very heavy wood frame (the mattress doesn't hit the wall) and doesn't seem to be budging even if I bounce on it.

I don't know about that... I've got literally 3 noise machines and a fan on, and yet, I can still friggin' hear it! I'm like the Princess and the Pea! I think if I tried to record it, you'd mostly just hear white noise...Dreamrobot wrote:Can you record it? This a case for sherlock hose

Re: non-PAP-related clicking disturbing my sleep
How is your house built? I had a post and beam house and as soon as the sun went down it started contracting and making popping and clicking noises. In the winter a regular house here does it too if the temperature drops down quickly. Is there a hot water pipe near you? They tick too as they expand and contract, so does hot water baseboard heating.

Go up to the Search line and put in "clicking noise" and look for this thread:

There was one or more posts in that 3-page thread that stated that ResMed claimed it was a "software" issue.

Re: non-PAP-related clicking disturbing my sleep
I wonder if there is a recent break in the mattress or box spring.
Broken wire or spring steel can make a clicking sound if rolled over just right.
