Other uses for your CPAP?

Post by Guest » Tue May 02, 2006 8:45 pm

You know seeing as how my $1000 machine with going on my third mask has yet to yeild and positive sleeping therpay, it got me thinking. Hmmm, what else could my glorified mini air-compressor be utilized for?

Possible uses off the top of my head include.

1. Blow dryer.
2. Sex toy.
3. placing ice in the humidifier results in a person AC unit.
4. adpater= automatic baloon filler.
5. small gold fish bowl, (humidfyer only)
6. fan
7. Compressor for yet to be invention air power tools for models
8. since it sits by the bedside, it would come in handy for dispursing certain gases.
9. since tube fits easily into a shoe, could be used to dry wet sneakers.
10. a cat scaring machine.

Hmm . . ., any chance you've been blindly following your physician's advice? For some unknown reason they only achieve about a 50% compliance rate. Have you tried using software to see if your therapy is stopping your apneas?

It's been done:

NightHawkey makes a good point, it doesn't seem like you're getting the proper mileage out of your therapy.
What kind a machine are you using?
What pressure settings?

He who dies with the most masks wins.

My cpu fan died on my computer and I ordered a new one.
I rigged my hose tip to the outside of the cpu and voila, it cooled it down like a charm.

Some have reported inflating an air mattress, but I maintain the pressure is much to low to do this,

As far as the dispersing of certain gasses, this is also problematic as far as the user goes.
If the unit is away from the user, then the gas is not a problem.
You are fine as long as you keep on your mask on.
Your bed partner is the one who raises a big stink about the big stink..

Ric,

Thanks for posting that photo from derek. I was around here when he first posted it. I laugh every single time I see it, and it's been awhile. Thanks!!

Got C-FLEX?

Funny uses ... but #10 doesn't work. I thought for sure my cat would stop sleeping with me when I got my CPAP, but she comes right up.

Maybe she has apnea, too....

Actually gas dispersion and safe under the mask are old wive's tales. I was laying there chuckling to myself about the advantage of having the Swift on while a certain other perwson was not so fortunate. Well, my eyes were opened and watering and coughing ensued, It smells the same even at 12CM H2O. It doesn't linger however.
