Super dry skin! Best humidifier?

Post by TimIsWin » Sun Aug 11, 2013 11:23 pm

I have spectacularly dry skin at the moment, it doesn't help that the air is dry either. I've been reading up on cold and warm humidifiers, which is better?
How about Air-O-Swiss AOS 7145?
TIA!

I would think that if your skin is dry, a whole room humidifier would be in order. The machine units are only to humidify the air going into your mouth and down your throat. If you are mouth breathing on a nasal (vs full face) mask when asleep, that would dry out your mouth (and presumably lips) but has no bearing on 'other' skin. Can't comment on warm vs cold as I only use my hum. a few wks in winter... I think it warms up to some extent (certainly don't use a Climateline or any external warmer) but I'm not conscious of it's being very warm or cold).

Well, warm humidity will probably feel better, keep in mind it's not a sauna, and it's not meant for skin conditioning, just to keep the airway mucosa from becoming too dry.

The better approach is to find out WHY your skin is so dry. Do you drink plenty if fluid throughout the day? Is your thyroid malfunctioning? What else is going on? Keep in mind that there are disease processes like some forms of arthritis that can cause very dry skin.
