Hats to wear under mask

Hi everyone. I am about to face a chemo drug that will not only make my hair fall out but will leave my scalp sensitive. I have read about people wearing caps under their masks and what I am looking for is one that doesn't have seams or anything that would rub on a sensitive scalp. I am glad I got the new wisp mask recently because it is much lighter weight than my previous mask but I still think I will need a cap both for comfort and warmth.

Any ideas of where to look? I am hoping to find a site that ships to Canada as well. thanks in advance for any tips.

There are seams on the inside but if you wore it inside-out it would be quite smooth. Not much of a risk at $6

Sorry you have to struggle though chemo. Hope it works great for you.

I started using bandanas. The inexpensive cotton ones. My purpose was to keep my straps clean but it might work for your purpose too. I just drape it over my head before I don the mask. The straps keep it in place and I even like that it blocks light from my eyes (if I keep it low in front) preventing the sun from waking me in the am.

New ones can be stiff so wash a few times and if one layer doesn't do it, you could try two or even three. Just a thought...

Thanks guys. Good ideas. The ones at that site are nice. I wouldn't have thought of just putting a scarf on my head. That keeps it simple and the mask holds it on. thank you for the ideas....and for the prayers. xo

Have you checked with the hospital to see if they have an auxilliary for chemo patients. Often there is a organization that can supply wigs and other head gear for chemo patients. They should be able to give you some guidance on what will work for you.

You might try some of the same material used for T-shirts, it would be even softer than very well washed bandannas.

Spandex caps DuRags, Wave Cap etc. sold in Beauty supply store & online I think would work out well. Better color selection online. I've even seen them in the African/American Hair etc section at Walmart.

And the quantity of free knit and crochet patterns for chemo caps gives me images
of round tables of sweet old ladies with needles and hooks, making pretty with yarn.

Thanks Rosacer, will do. I wish it was easier/cheaper to get these things shipped to Canada. There is a lot more available on Amazon.com than .ca
Will keep looking. I don't start until Oct 10th so have some time. Thanks again for the suggestions.

FYI It's kind of buried on the site, but on the headcovers site, it says that to Canada it is a flat $7.95 for shipping. Takes 2-4 weeks.
