Can you change headgear on a Wisp mask

Post by fran09cis » Fri Oct 04, 2013 6:03 pm

I have a wisp nasal mask. Started using CPAP about a month or so ago. It's fairly comfortable but I'd prefer headgear that doesn't smash down my hair so much. Can you change headgear on a mask?

Yes.. go to cpap.com website and you can see there are two types of headgear, one is fabric and the other is silicone. I hated the mess straps made of my hair so I switched to the new tap pap.... no straps at all... no ridges in my hair
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

The interchangeable silicone or cloth part (which only touches the face) is called the "frame" by Respironics.
(and a smaller frame would be perfect for me)
Only one headgear is sold for this mask, but others have switched headgear of different masks.
Look for something with Velcro straps in similar locations.
Sadly, function will make most usable choices very similar in shape.
Have you considered a buff; or a ponytail?
I like the Wisp too, and would love to see it melded with the tap pap.

Some issues with the Wisp: It appears that the Wisp headstraps are a bit more narrow than the conventional four arm straps you see for various other masks. However with a pair of scissors one should be able to scale them down to the right width where they slide thru the frame loops. My one real complaint with the Wisp headstraps is that they don't really last very long before they start to fray where the velcro folds over. This means the straps can pop open in the middle of the night which guarantees leaks.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
