Fisher & Paykel HC221LE Instructions

Post by mikedesc » Thu Jan 20, 2005 8:10 am

Hello:

I just received the above machine which is an upgrade from a recent sleep study. The local healthcare provider did not know any details as to how to set the user controls other than this sets the humidifier temperature and this one sets the ramp time, thank you and good luck!!

Does anyone have an owners manual or set up intructions you would be willing to share? Going from an 11 to 17 change in pressure was quite significant the first night. I would like to ramp up the pressure and have pre-heated humidity before using the machine, is this possible?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I have the same machine as you and the owner's manual. There are no instructions in the manual for changing the ramp time. In the manual, it says the ramp time is 20 minutes. I don't guess you can change it. As far as heated humidity, it says turn the humidity dial above 1 and it is automatically heated. My DME told me that the machine automatically heats the humidity so that there won't be any rainout. Don't you believe it. I had some nasal congestion a couple of days aago and if you turn the machine over halfway, you'll get rainout or at least I did. My DME told me this was the "Cadallac" of cpap machines. It's more like the Volkswagon. I didn't know any better. He billed my insurance company in full for the machine before I even had it a month ($920). We had 100% insurance then. We are temporarily uninsured so I'm stuck with it for a while. I wish I had known then about autopaps. I sure would have gotten one. Sorry I can't be of anymore help. Maybe you can contact the manufacturer. I will say it is a really quiet machine but as I understand it most machines are now. My DME was Sleepmed. Who was yours?

I have had this machine since June - DME gave it to me - didn't know it from Adam or any other CPAP. I have not had any problems with it. Have had the heat set very low until it got cold then had to up it to a 2 just recently (had been on 1.5). I have noticed a little nose bleeding when blowing my nose and was told I might need to turn up the heat a little. We'll see. Anyway, it is pretty quiet and I took it to Italy with no problems. I'm paying it off as a rental (which I didn't know at the beginning). They never tell you anything at the DME place!! Oh well. By the time it's paid off, I'll probably need a new one. But no problems with it that I can tell. Although I would like to have an automatic altitude adjustment, as we travel in the US a lot.
