Floor standing hose holder
Floor standing hose holder
Hi All,
We have an adjustable bed. The only hose holders I see fit between the mattress and box spring. This doesn't work with an adjustable bed because if you raise the head of the bed, the holder weakens in stregnth and falls over. I initiated a seach a few years ago, with no result. Just thought I would try again. Time has passed, maybe something is new. I can't be the only one out there with an adjustable bed! My husband jerry rigged a floor lamp, along with the parts that come with the regular hose holder. It has never worked as well as we wanted it to. Thank you for whatever help you can offer, or pointing me in the right direction to find one.
Thanks for your ear,
Bettye

Re: Floor standing hose holder
Could you attach something to the wall above the head of your bed that would hold the hose? Maybe a little shelf with a hole in it to slide the hose through? If you are not handy enough to do it yourselves, I shouldn't think it would cost much to have a handyman/carpenter make and install for you. There used to be some threads on here where members wrote about DIY hose hangers that they rigged up, maybe type "hose hanger" into search box and see if you can find them.

Re: Floor standing hose holder
Hubby mounted swinging plant hangers onto the wall at either side of the bed (about 6' high)
We duck taped sections of fishing pole to each bracket, and hung chains of scrunchies to the rings to hold the hoses at the right height.
In the daytime, the whole thing swings out of the way against the wall over the headboard.
--so our bedroom looks just a tiny bit kinky.

Hi,
You could build your own out of PVC piping.
Build a square for a base and a column to support the hanger for the hose.
I would suggest using 3/4 inch tubing as it will be stiffer and not tilt or sag.
It would likely be useful to have some sort of weight on the square support to keep it from moving.
Since you have an adjustable bed, you could stand it on the floor at the head of the bed and the bed frame would pin it to the wall for stability.
The parts you would need are:
4 right angle corners for the base,
1 T connector to hold the base and the upright,
2 45 degree connectors to move the hose support away from the wall,
2 pieces of 3/4 inch schedule 40 PVC pipe about 6 feet long.
And some kind of support material to hold onto the CPAP hose.
The base would consist of three pieces, 12 inches long and two pieces about 5 inches long (you'll have to measure to get the exact length so that when connected with the T connector, the piece will be exactly the same length as the 12 inch sides.).
Connect them to make a square with the T connector on the side made up of the 5 inch pieces.
The hose support is one long piece and two shorter ones all connected by the 45 degree connectors so that the final arm in horizontal to and sticks out the distance you need. I'm guessing that the length of the longest vertical piece would be about 4 feet and the other two something like 18 inches and then 6 inches for the horizontal piece. You could use a longer vertical piece and shorter diagonal pieces, whatever fits your esthetic sense of how it should look.
Line everything up at the foot of the bed when making judgments as to how long the 45 degree pieces should be.
Assemble everything without glue to make sure it all seems right. Start with the 45 degree stuff to get the distance from the wall correct, then the vertical piece to get the height correct, and finally the bottom support square. Should take about 30 minutes and you're done.
Good luck.

Re: Floor standing hose holder
You need a Hose Buddy from Pure Sleep or maybe from CPAP.com. These hang on the wall with a 3M Command hook that can be removed from the wall without damage if necessary. The hose attaches to a pulley with Velcro straps, and hangs from a circle kinda like a keyring-type deal. These are about $20 to $25. Many people use them, and it can be removed and taken with you if you travel, but be sure to take an additional Command hook and adhesive by 3M to use during your trips. If you remove the hook & adhesive by following the directions on the package to T, it will not harm the wall. I have taken mine with me to my parent's home, my sister's home, & motels- & have never left a mark on the wall in those places. However, I removed the hook & adhesive without looking at the removal directions for removal at an old rental house we lived in with about 1/4' paint on the wall, and it took some of the paint off in about the size of a quarter, so BE SURE to follow directions.

Re: Floor standing hose holder
I also have an adjustable Temper-pedic mattress. I also can't use my Hose Buddy. Since I have a wrought iron bed frame, I take the base off and zip tie the top portion of the Hose Buddy to the wrought iron portion of the headboard. It's loose enough to swing outta' the way during the day. Do a search on hose hangers. I am always amazed at the things folks here can think up! I can shoot straight (and hit what I'm shootin' at) though....
