high pressure warning on my machine

Post by springman946 » Wed Jun 04, 2014 9:13 pm

I am hoping someone can help answer my question I got a HIGH PRESSURE WARNING box along with the red alarm.light then the machine emits a beeping sound this happens. as I am exhaling against the pressure why is this happening am I exhaling too hard into the mask against the pressure is there something wrong with my machine. I took it to my home care provider to have them look at it. and it does not give them the warning message because it only pops up when I am wearing the mask. when my home care provider had the machine they ran it all day long and found nothing wrong with it. I am concerned. because I will have only had the machine for 3 years I will have to wait another two years to get another one I have a set pressure of 20 CMH2o but the machine never get to that pressure I know it has that capability it generally stays between 12 and 15 cmH2O it starts at 6.0 CMH2O

What are your pressures set at and how high do they go on data readouts?

Are you using Oxygen with the machine?

You could read this link to the user manual might help you: http://www.healthcare.philips.com/pwc_h ... manual.pdf

Page 14 of manual says: This may be caused by a malfunctioning
device. Press the Alarm Silence/Indicator
button to silence the alarm. Remove
your mask Remove power from the
device. Restore power. If the alarm
continues, contact your home care
provider for service

is you have the high pressure alarm - see page 14 on the link above:

High Pressure
High • • • • • Red flashing button;
“High Pressure”

Operates;
If the alarm continues for 10 seconds, the alarm escalates to a Device Inoperative alarm

This may be caused by a malfunctioning device. Press the Alarm Silence/Indicator button to silence the alarm. Remove your mask Remove power from the device. Restore power. If the alarm continues, contact your home care provider for service.

I would bring my mask to show the DME the problem... does it do it all the time or just so often? If you look on the SD card, did it generate a error file - typically located in the "e" folder. You would see a xxx.004 file with the same date as the alarm if it generated an error file. If it did, then perhaps it has more information in it. Let me know if it generated the file and I can walk you through most of it.

If this is a repeating problem, it needs to go back to get repaired.
Your DME has a problem, they are kind of obligated to give you a loaner machine while yours is being repaired.
But, its likely they don't have one to loan so they are dragging their feet on your problem.
Can you get by for a short time (a week or so) without your machine? Could you use an Auto BiPap for that time?

Talk to your doc and see if either of these is workable and then lean on your DME to get it fixed.
