Glass Distilled Water

Just recently I was made aware of glass distilled water. Has anyone knowledge of what is glass distilled water and how does one make it? All comments will be appreciated.

Google "glass distilled water" it's there, it's a method of distilling water. Jim

Quite a bit of time to waste, not to mention fuel and polution, to save $ .82 for a gallon of distilled water. Before I did this I'd build a still, then when I didn't need distilled water, maybe it could be used for other things.

Dream on, GP, DH tried it; it didn't work--temperatures and inside materials were wrong.
Oh, BTW, it ruined the distiller.
I believe dedicated glass distillation devices could be promoted to market to people who are antsy about trace metal ions in their distilled H2O
Of course, the metal ions in all our bodily fluids are what keeps us alive; so go figure.

More new age nonsense, especially for humidifier water vs. drinking water.

A glass distiller is normally used by a lab that need super clean water. The lab I worked in used one to polish the building's house distilled water. Like this:

stainless steel with glass container - some people are concerned with storage of the water in plastic containers.

So - it says 580 Watts power consumption - can make 4 gallons per day, so if I assume 24/4=6 hours to make 1 gallon.
580*4= 2.32 kWh (K-WattHours or 1000 watt hours = 1 kWh)

Energy cost in Michigan is about $0.14 per kWh. So 1 gallon would cost $0.14*2.32 = $0.3248, just in electricity.

Cost of distilled water here in Michigan is $0.88 per gallon. Savings per gallon is $0.5552 So, after making only 414.26 gallons the unit would pay for its self. Of course you would need to use the water for more than just the PAP humidifier. I use it to water my plants, water for the cats, and in my house humidifier. Still might be hard to justify.
