Cpap wipes vs. baby wipes

Post by Filigree3 » Tue Mar 19, 2019 6:17 pm

What should I use for cleaning my F20 mask with memory foam? I know I’m not supposed to wash with water. Is it worth it to buy Cpap wipes when I already have baby wipes?

If baby wipes are fine for XPAP's, does that mean are CPAP wipes, good for cleaning babies? :?: Jim

You're not? did you read the manual?

...
For the Airtouch F20, ResMed says:

Step 2 - If necessary, wipe down the cushion with dry or non-alcoholic wipes only. Do not get the cushion wet.

While I agree with doing wiping down the cushion and mask parts with a wipe daily, doing the rest of their cleaning regimen daily seems to be serious overkill to me. I wash the rest of my mask when it seems to need it -- and it doesn't need it very often!

You're absolutely right, I missed the fact that it's a combined manual. Sorry about that! Thank you for pointing out my mistake!

It says:

Cleaning the cushion
You do not need to clean the cushion every day. If any visible
deterioration of the cushion is apparent, the cushion should be discarded
and replaced.
• If required, wipe the outside of the foam cushion with CPAP wipes or
similar alcohol-free wipes and allow to dry.
• Do not rinse or submerge in liquid
• Do not expose to domestic cleaning products or cleaning devices
• Do not store or place in direct sunlight.

So, I'd imagine that baby wipes would be just fine.

I'm glad this thread is here, and I did a search before posting a "new" topic. I have been using the AirFit F20 for over a year now, and it is ok, but I really want to try the AirTouch F20 cushion. My medicial supplies store tech keeps discouraging me, claiming cleaning it is problematic, but this forum gives me hope that the foam-which only needs to last a month-can be cleaned daily with non-alcohol wipes. This is perfect for me. I hope I like the foam better than the plastic after it begins to break down after a couple weeks of use, especially the bottom where it rests on the chin. Ugh.

Thanks for this post! :)

The Airtouch is the cushion I've used the most. For me, it was an improvement in every way over the Airfit cushion

Here's some thoughts based on my experience.

They last well over 30 days.

Daily cleaning *first thing in the morning* is a must.

The memory foam retains odors

If you slobber at night, that will reduce cushion life. Even with daily cleaning.

If I had acid reflux, automatic immediate throw away. (See odors)

It seemed smaller than the airfit to me. At first this bothered me a bit. I found that if I positioned it higher on bridge of nose it was fine.

YMMV on all of the above. But not this: always have a backup handy due to the nature of some of the issues.

All of these were worth it for me because of comfort, less leaks, and better sleep. I switched to the Airtouch only 2 weeks in, and I can honestly say that it really helped me settle in and start enjoying my therapy.

Good luck to you.

Thanks djams! This is solid info. I'll keep a AirFit cushion as backup. Can't hurt to try it once, right? I'll update after a few weeks.

I see that folks say baby wipes are fine.
Do any of you have specific brand suggestions? Any to avoid?

unscented only, please. i use the kroger grocery generic brand. says fragrance-free on the package. have been using them for over three years.

don't recall anyone ever suggesting a specific brand, so will be interested in what pops up.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.
