Resmed S9 Humidifier error

Post by jccjshap » Thu Jun 04, 2020 8:12 am

I recently connected my Resmed S9 to a so-clean and now I am getting an error message: "Humidifier error - Please replace humidifier". Has anyone else gotten this error and were you able to correct it?

Try one or more of the following, to see if error goes away
  • Unplug CPAP, leave unplugged for a few minutes and replug in to reset it.
  • Remove SoClean connection:
    • If you've connected the SoClean via provided adapter lid, replace with original lid
    • If you've connected via tube through back, remove
  • Ensure, lid, gasket and Humidifier are seated properly
  • Swap out Humidifier with a spare humidifier
May be time for a new machine, how many hours are on it?

Obligatory SoClean and all Ozone cleaners are unnecessary and can cause harm to you and your equipment message.

SoClean is the biggest scam to be directed at Cpap patients.
Return it for a refund if possible--otherwise, dumpster!
It is the biggest LIE as well.
Now you know.

These humidifiers are pretty reliable but will occasionally kark it. I had the circuit board replaced on mine due to the same error (it was about 4 yr 10 months old, so still just in warranty). Running a toxic corrosive gas through your device will not do any good to the components and Resmed specifically exclude zone damage from their warranty. The SoClean is unnecessary and may damage your machine - get rid of it.

ResMed has specifically stated that they will not be responsible for repairing equipment under warranty if damaged by UV light or Ozone. The biggest same about all these "cleaners" is they don't removed any skin oils from the mask. So you are not helping yourself at all by "sanitizing" with UV or Ozone. A simple wash with gentle hand soap on the mask cushion and diluted white vinegar soak is all you need. There is a very good reason Medicare and insurance don't cover the costs of these contraptions. They have no benefit.

Respiration99 doesn't live in the USA. Where he does live it is possible that the place he got his machine from (the store) might offer more than the standard 2 year from ResMed warranty. They do things a little differently where he lives than we do here.

Oh, there are so many answers to that question... but I want to stay friends with you all. :D

Resmed machines in Oz come with a 2 year warranty but if you sign up to their support site https://www.sleepvantage.com.au you get an extra year on the warranty for free. When I bought mine (2013) they gave an extra 3 years, for a total of 5. A lot of retailers here give you five years as a matter of course - probably because the Australian Consumer Law would force them to repair or replace a machine under 5 years old, so they turn a legal obligation into a marketing exercise.

Ahhh...more of a store provided extended warranty is how those kind of things are done here. Never free though. The greedy SOBs sell them and we have no such sort of real consumer protection laws. Often offered with some products we can buy but not normally with cpap machines here in the US.
