New ResMed Airsense 10 - "Foamgate"
New ResMed Airsense 10 - "Foamgate"
I just stopped using My Dreamstation I and bought, out of pocket, a new ResMed Airsense 10. I'm a recent cancer survivor of only a little over two years and I was very uncomfortable with continuing use of my recalled Dreamstation I even though the risks might be small I'm trying to reduce as much risk as possible to survive longer. I don't trust Philips to do the right thing in any reasonable amount of time.
That be said I love this new machine. The transition was flawless and I'm posting my first OSCAR report. My average AHI was around 3-4 AHI with the old machine and it looks like I'm tending higher with the new one but we'll see. Any advice appreciated.

Re: New ResMed Airsense 10 - "Foamgate"
we'd be better served if we could see more than one graph. that way, we could see a trend.
that said, take a look at your pressure graph. your minimum is set to 9. the machine goes past that and never really goes back. were it me, i'd set that minimum to at least 10 to give your machine a better chance.
as one who has gone from resperonics to resmed a long time ago, i can tell you that the algorithms are quite different. it will take some time to get dialed back in.
good luck!

Based on that chart, I'd suggest a min pressure of 10, (maybe 11) and see how that goes for you.

Thanks Zonker. That was my 1st night on the new machine. I'll try going to a min of 10 on the pressure.
Re: New ResMed Airsense 10 - "Foamgate"

let us know how it goes.

Night # 2. Big improvement. I upped the min psi to 10, lowered the max psi to 18, shortened the ramp up from 10" to 5" and tweaked the mask straps to be equal...very minor.
Also went to my Pulmonologist about the recall and she was very aware of the situation and wrote me a letter recommending stopping use of the Dreamstation and also prescribed use of a ResMed S10 machine instead, which of course I already bought. Next stop is to my DME to give her copies and see if she'll deal with Medicare or if I need to handle it. download/file.php?mode=view&id=15796

Centimeters of water should not be confused with pounds per square inch.
A person could get killed . . .
Gas pressure regulators are worth their weight in gold.

Nobody suggested changing the max pressure, I recommend you put it back to 20 cm/h2o and leave it there.gwfl wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 8:59 amNight # 2. Big improvement. Also, there's no such thing as a 'S10' from Resmed.
And, third, why did you put "foamgate" on your first post, since Resmed has nothing to do with it?

Yeah, didn't have the heart to fix his ramp statement either:chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 9:22 amCute.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 9:07 amFixed.

Which:
is impossible on a resmed and the ' and " symbols (when applied to minutes and seconds) are typically used for latitude and longitude.

WOW! Came here for assistance and I get ridicule.
Re: New ResMed Airsense 10 - "Foamgate"
You didn't get ridiculed....you got corrected. There is a difference.
Learn from it and move on.
I was going to correct the psi thing but someone beat me to it.
And really...what does the Respironics foam problem have to do with the fact changing pressures makes you feel better.

Re: New ResMed Airsense 10 - "Foamgate"
Thank you for responding Pugsy I've always respected your level headed and courteous answers, however, I have to respectively disagree here, that was clearly ridicule with a bit of correction thrown in...making fun at someone else's expense. But, moving on, the reference to foamgate is that if it hadn't been for Philips messing up their products and using a possibly carcinogenic foam in the Dreamstation I would not have ended up with a new Resmed Airsense 10 (my pulmonologist referred to it as an S10) and on the forum searching for advice and "attempting" to sharing my experience transitioning from the old to new machine.

Sentence... that is.
