Very doubtful that a worm infection whould affect the muscles in your tongue and throat.

could a worm release toxins that affect my brain? isn't there some kind of sleeping sickness from worms?
I've ruled out any heart/brain damage except for MVP and a brain cyst.

btw if your graph is fragmented on Encore and only shows a line for 1-2 hours at a time does that mean that you didn't get any therapy for those blank spaces?

I've heard that worm infections can cause Repetitive Posting Syndrome, confusion and lack of understanding...

I think OP is still stuck on the DeNile river. Spending extraordinary time searching for a cause and possible cure instead of expending the same energy in optimizing the therapy that is available. The doctors say that there is a good chance that my OSA stems from a neck surgery I had. I could spend an enormous amount of time trying to validate the possible cause and know "for sure" but the end result is that I still need the mask and machine no matter what the cause.

Why does it matter what may have caused it? If you have OSA, deal with it and use your CPAP. Mine is from a small throat and palate...knowing that doesn't make it go away. It still means I have to use my CPAP every time I sleep. Big deal. I'm just thrilled that the technology exists.

I am not sure why I have OSA or what ( if any) caused it, But It works and I feel 10 times better. I agree with what others are saying, Dont worry what caused your OSA, treat it. Some day there may be a cure but you are not getting any better waiting around for one if you are not using your XPAP

You get the same effect with people who come out as gay/lesbian/trans. They spent enormous amounts of time hunting up cause and effect literature and getting really politically active. I think it is part and parcel of the "lifestyle" change thing and part of the grieving process.

Oh come on now... let's all be nice, we all went down this path with our 5 stages of Sleep Apnea acceptance.

I guess the technical answer is yes, it could be caused from a worm, but what are the chances of that. Let's busy ourselves now with dealing with it and correcting it. CPAP is the gold standard when it comes to treatment and I know I feel wonderful most days with it.

As far as your question with Encore, I don't have that software, but use ResScan. When I see a break in the lines, it generally means that I was not using the machine during that time. I had one night where I went to bed with it on, and woke up with it on, but when I looked at the data, there was this big gap from 1am - 3am. Wife said I had gotten up to go to the bathroom, and then came back to bed and forgot to put the mask on. I must have gotten up again around 3am as that's when the lines started again, and I could see the ramp setting start there too.

Whatever the cause; IT DOES NOT MATTER!
The important part is getting therapy.

I went right to stage 5, as soon as My body could take pressure, I hosed up. The movation was simple, make it work or die.(Again) Soon as the chest started to fit back together, hose up over the pain and live with it. I couldn't swim in De-Nile, it would infect the sutures. Jim

Yes same here. I think I managed not to sing the "Hallelujah" chorus the first morning I woke up and felt better because I was busy running something besides the cat always walks out in a huff when I sing.

I think I had a thought that if the civilization ended I wouldn't be able to run my cpap machine without power. That so far is my only regret, I am really worried about that..... The end of the world Luckily last May turned out not to be an issue but now I have to worry about those Mayans who ran out of stone on their calendar next year...

Well, is your Apnea's Central or Obstructive? If they are Obstructive then you are looking in the wrong places. Your Brain, Heart won't have anything to do with causing OSA, but it could be damaged by OSA. And I highly doubt a worm would have anything to do with OSA.

If it's Central Sleep Apnea, then maybe.. Who knows. Unless they find a specific cause for the Centrals like Heart Failure, or Brain problems it's Idiopathic. Which is what my Central's are and probbly most of the group running around with Centrals. Idiopathic is the category for they don't know and probbly won't know for certian ever. There is a point you just realize that you won't have something to pin this condition on, and just move forward with treating it and moving on with life.
